The Crew
Newy Bass Crew, established to foster a community focused on love, inclusivity, equality, diversity, authenticity, and the unrestrained freedom of self-expression in Australia’s Hunter Region and beyond. Shining a light on talents in rural areas, celebrating the connection between music and nature.
Launched in late 2021, the crew comprises of a plethora of DJs from the region and have gone on to hold numerous club events, showcases, fundraisers and secret parties, as well as hosting jungle and drum and bass legend, Dillinja, in Eora in early 2023, and holding a stage takeover at Subsonic Festival in late 2023 as well as at the Eora’s KOAN Sound boat party in 2024. NBC kicked off 2025 in collaboration with Subjective Eora and Wonky Nomad Productions for the Open Air City Doof, featuring the UK’s Hypho and PAV4N, in Eora, and a stage takeover at Antigravity 2025.
Our involvement in the local scene includes a history of local-focussed events and co-hosting a radio show on Orbital Radio Sydney from 2021 until its closure in 2023. Since then, we've continued to support the scene through our weekly mix series on Soundcloud, surpassing it's 100th feature in 2024. This series showcases talent from across Australia and the globe.
Our DJs cover a wide range of bass genres, including drum and bass, jungle, dubstep, footwork, UKG, bass house, psy dub, and more. Diversity, inclusivity, and safety are central to our events, and we are dedicated to fostering a sense of community within the bass scene.
With a big focus on underground rave and doof culture and safe spaces, our crew members have been featured at various events including Basscamp, Zenith Gathering, Dragon Dreaming Festival, Rain Dance Festival, Origins of Entropy, SubTerra, Esoteric Festival, RootBound Festival, Initiation Festival, Art Valley and more.
